One of those individuals is Chelsie, who recently represented Australia on the international stage as part of the 2026 Australian Country Hockey Team.
From Regional Roots to International Opportunity
For Chelsie, hockey has always been more than just a sport.
“Hockey has always been a huge part of my life, but continuing to pursue it at a high level from a regional area hasn’t been easy. Living in a country town means constantly travelling long distances, covering extra costs, and making sacrifices to stay involved at a high level.”
These challenges are a reality for many regional athletes. Access to elite pathways, competitions and training often requires significant personal and financial commitment. Chelsie has faced this challenge head‑on while continuing to chase her goals.
Proudly Representing Australia in Malaysia
The tour saw the team compete across multiple cities, gaining valuable international experience and representing regional Australian hockey on a global platform.
“Being selected for the 2026 Australian Country Hockey Team and touring Malaysia, competing across Penang, Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Melaka in seven matches, is an opportunity I’m incredibly proud of.”
