SRO announces passing of the Act

The State Taxation Acts Amendment Act 2025 (the Act) received Royal Assent on 24 June 2025.
The Act implements a 2025–26 Victorian Budget measure and makes various changes to taxation laws including:
  • Extension of the temporary off-the-plan duty concession
  • Family violence tax relief measures
  • Build-to-Rent (BTR) provisions
  • Changes to the Commercial and Industrial Property Tax Reform (CIPT)
  • Expanded land tax exemptions for the homes of deceased owners or owners in assisted living
  • Payroll tax revised definition of ‘regional employee’ and more
  • Taxation Administration Act new 50% penalty tax rate for taxpayer recklessness
  • Unclaimed Money Act 2008 new powers for Registrar to recover unclaimed money
  • Trust for Nature expansion of the Vacant Land Conservation Covenant Account (VLCCA) criteria
