Make Your Will at Beck Legal and Support Palliative Care Bendigo

Beck Legal has officially launched Matter for a Cause, a new community initiative encouraging Bendigo residents to prepare a legal Will while helping raise $50,000 for the Bendigo Health Palliative Care redevelopment. The initiative was launched at a special event held within the Palliative Care Unit.

Make a Will in Bendigo and Support a Vital Community Cause
Through Matter for a Cause, members of the local community are invited to have a professionally prepared legal Will completed by Beck Legal. A contribution of $250 for a single Will or $500 for a couples Will is then directly donated to support the redevelopment of the Bendigo Health Palliative Care Unit. The $50,000 fundraising goal will help create improved, dignified and homely spaces for patients, families and staff. The redevelopment is focused on ensuring high‑quality end‑of‑life care is delivered in an environment designed for comfort, compassion and dignity.

Supporting Families When It Matters Most
Dr Li Chi, Clinical Unit Head of Palliative Care, said the redevelopment would make a meaningful difference for families during an incredibly important time.

“This is a very special time for families, and the contribution from Matter for a Cause will help create a peaceful and comfortable environment to support them.”

Palliative care is a service that touches almost every family, whether directly or indirectly. At the same time, more than half of Victorian adults do not have a current Will in place, which can leave families vulnerable during already challenging periods.

Estate Planning with Purpose
Beck Legal Managing Director Daniel Cole said the initiative strongly aligns with the firm’s people‑first values and commitment to the Bendigo community.

“Many individuals, couples and families don’t have an up‑to‑date Will. This initiative allows people to take care of an important part of their estate planning while supporting a truly worthy local cause.”

Matter for a Cause brings these two realities together, offering peace of mind through estate planning while generating essential funding for a vital Bendigo health service.

A Practical Way to Give Back
Bendigo Health Foundation Director of Fundraising Shaun Spence welcomed the partnership, highlighting the practical and accessible nature of the campaign.

“We’re not asking for a donation. We’re encouraging people to look after themselves and their families by making a Will, while also supporting Bendigo Health Palliative Care.”

Funds raised will directly support the four‑stage Palliative Care redevelopment, which is currently underway while the unit remains operational. Director of Facilities Management at Bendigo Health, Adam Kinder, spoke to the complexity of delivering the project while maintaining patient care.

“Our team works closely with the Palliative Care unit to manage OH&S, infection control and service delivery while progressing the redevelopment.”

Get Involved: Make or Update Your Will
The Matter for a Cause campaign is now open, with Beck Legal encouraging individuals and families across the region to make or update their Will and help reach the $50,000 fundraising goal by 30 November.
