From Latrobe Clerkship to Litigation

Law was my favourite subject in high school and I always found it really intriguing. I also liked that there is so many different areas of law and each one is completely different, which keeps it interesting and provides the opportunity for change.”

During and upon completion of high school, Maddie was always interested in pursuing a career in law. However, she was unsure exactly what area she might enjoy practicing in.

Maddie went on to study a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and a Bachelor of Criminology. Maddie says “I liked that I could attend uni locally which enabled me to stay at home for majority of my studies. I also liked that a number of my tutors were lawyers from law firms within Bendigo, which provided connections within the local law community, as well as a more practical perspective to my studies.”

Maddie joined the Beck Legal team while studying as part of her clinical placement. She continued to work in our litigation and local government planning team on a partime basis while completing her degree. “I commenced as a client manager at Beck Legal once I finished my studies. Throughout this role I have been able to learn from the Solicitors within the team to progress into the role of a Solicitor myself. I love the team environment, and that everyone is able to work collaboratively together.”
